EuroHockey Indoor Championship, Division Three (men): Scotland 11, Slovenia 0; Scotland 4, Wales 0 (in Nicosia, Cyprus).

Scotland beat Wales 4-0 in their final game in the EuroHockey Indoor Championships, Division Three, in Cyprus to finish on 12 points and out of the promotion places.

The three points with two goals in each half took the Tartan Team into temporary second place in the seven-strong group with 12 points from their six games.

However, they finished third behind Belarus, who earned 18 points from an unblemished six-game record, and Slovakia who collected 13 points, who are promoted.

Second day defeats to Belarus (3-1) and Slovakia (5-4) proved costly in their bid for promotion to the second tier of European indoor hockey.

Earlier yesterday (SUN), Scotland brushed aside the challenge of Slovenia with an 11-0 romp.

Coach Stuart Neave guided his men to a 7-0 half-time lead and they continued to pile on the pressure.

The Scots took their goal tally to 43 for the tournament and moved onto their final game against Wales, who were fourth, in high spirits.
