Hibs’ Development team emerged victorious against city rivals Hearts at the Oriam yesterday in the  SPFL Development League.

Craig Levein and Neil Lennon were both present at the game to check out their young talent.

Hearts fielded a strong starting XI, with first-team players Ross Callachan, Prince Buaben, Jack Hamilton and Euan Henderson included in the line up.

Hibs on the other hand fielded a team of youngsters with only Oli Shaw a regular in the first team squad.

Callachan gave Hearts the lead after 19 minutes with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

Lewis Allan who has been on loan at Edinburgh city equalised from close range after  good work down the left hand side from full-back Callum Donaldson, then added a second two minutes later with a curling shot.

Hearts levelled just before the break when Callum Morrison who fired a powerful strike from the edge of the box past Paddy Martin.

Hibs grabbed what proved to be the winning goal early into the second half when Campbell headed home from Sean Mackie’s corner to secure three valuable points which consolidated their position at the top of the table.

Eddie May’s side now face a double header against Celtic next week.

The squad travel to Greenock on Monday night for a league game which kicks off at 6pm then the clubs meet again at the Hibs training Centre on Thursday in the SFA Youth Club semi-final with a 12.00 kick off.

Heart of Midlothian: Hamilton, Sandison, Gajda, Buaben (Ritchie 68), Quitongo (Paton 57), Morrison, Callachan, Irving, Moore, Henderson, Keena. Subs not used: Mason, C Smith, Ward, Logan.

Hibernian: P Martin, Donaldson, Mackie, Campbell, Waugh, Crane, Gullan, Stirling, Shaw, Martin, Allan. Subs not used: Watson, Paton, Woods, Gallantes, Dabrowski.
