Former Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton will be appearing in Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends the Musical at the Edinburgh Playhouse later this month.

Fat Friends was a hit television series on ITV which began in 2000 and ran for five years. It told the story of a group of overweight friends struggling with the challenges of fad diets.

Hamilton will star as Julia Fleshman and is excited at extending her run in the show following a favourable reaction from audiences across the UK.

She said: “I am thrilled to be able to extend my run with Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends the Musical. The show has had the most amazing response from audiences who on their feet every night. I am loving every minute of the show and working with such a fabulous cast and I’m really excited to be able to play the role of Julia in more venues around the UK.”

Ms Hamilton is part of a sterling cast which includes Scots comedian and actress Elaine C Smith and former Coronation Street actor Kevin Kennedy who played Curly Watts in the long-running ITV soap opera.
