Ryan Porteous has been voted Young Player of the Season by the Hibernian Supporters’ Association.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed first team football as well as helping the Development Squad to top spot in the SPFL Development League with two games remaining and semi-final of the SFA Youth Cup against Celtic.

That game will be played at Easter Road Stadium on Thursday 12 April with a 7pm kick-off and entry is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.

The popular youngster told Hibernian TV: “At the start of the season, my aim was just to try and make my debut for the club because I didn’t know if I’d be going out on loan or staying. I have surpassed that and played a good few games and I’ve scored a couple of goals.

“It’s been a dream season for me. Hopefully next season I can get more games under my belt.

“For the (Development)  league, we know that if we win our games then we win the title; it’s all in our hands and we don’t need anyone else to do us a favour.

“We’ve got two big games and we know that if we take care of them that we have won the league. We’ve just got to look at it that way.

“We’re looking forward to it. We’ve got a big game coming up on Thursday that we’ve been wanting to get out of the way.

“It should be a good game against Celtic and I hope we can get the win and move on to play in the final because it will be a good experience for a few of the boys.

“To get through to the final and play at Hampden, as well as playing at Easter Road on Thursday night, would be good because it could be the last time a few of the boys play there or it could be the first of many so it should be good to be involved in.

“There are no easy ties in the semi-final of the Youth Cup, so it will be a good test for us and I know we have got enough to give them a good game.”
