Scott Courtney was thrilled with the efforts of his Berwick Bandits team in their opening night win over Glasgow Tigers.

And team manager Courtney is looking for an action replay when arch rivals Newcastle Diamonds visit in the first leg of the Tyne/Tweed Trophy on Saturday.

Tapes go up for this clash at 6.30pm and the KLS Bandits, powered by Mike Hope of Wooler, will look to inspirational skipper Kevin Doolan.

He top scored with 12 points in the 47-43 Championship Shield win over Tigers and he was backed by Austrian rider Dany Gappmaier with ten points and former Tigers racer Aaron Summers who scored eight points.

And newcomer Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen matched that.

Courtney is looking for more from experienced David Howe who scored four points last Saturday.

And he is keen to see if raw newcomer John Lindman has learned more about his new track.

So, a reminder, tapes go up at 6.30pm in the first-leg of the Tyne/ Tweed Trophy on Saturday.

And Glasgow Tigers entertain The Staggs Bar Monarchs in the Championship Shield on Sunday, tapes-up here at 3pm.
