Newspaper columnist and broadcaster Tam Cowan donned his chef’s whites this week to launch The Big Summer Sizzle to encourage people to host a barbeque to raise funds for St Columba’s Hospice.

The star of BBC Scotland’s Off the Ball radio programme  joined St Columba’s Hospice staff for a barbeque to launch the latest Scotland’s Hospices Together fundraising campaign.

Scotland’s Hospices Together is a national partnership between ten of Scotland’s independent hospices, working together to highlight the work of local hospice care across Scotland.

As part of its remit, Scotland’s Hospices Together will be co-ordinating joint fundraising campaigns to benefit all participating hospices.

Tam said:  “I am absolutely thrilled to support The Big Summer Sizzle. There’s nothing better than filling your face with a burger or three, so what a great way to raise money for your local hospice.”

Jon Heggie, Director of Fundraising for St Columba’s Hospice, said: “We’re so excited to see The Big Summer Sizzle back for 2018, especially with the fantastic weather we’ve been having. It’s the perfect excuse to get together with family, friends and colleagues for a barbeque and a fun way to raise vital funds for St Columba’s Hospice.”
