The draw for this year’s Walking Football Scottish Cup and Festival took place this week live on twitter.

An incredible 60 teams will participate in the event which takes place at Glasgow Green on Saturday 23 June.

Teams have been drawn into groups of four with the top two qualifying for the last 16 knockout stage.

St Johnstone fan and Minister of Public Health and Sport Aileen Campbell will open the tournament and four local teams will take part.

Holders Midlothian who won last year’s competition with 85-year-old Peter Collins in goal have been drawn against KCST Northwest FC, Stenhousemuir and Stewarton.

League winners Hearts 56 face Ayr United Beresford, Fort William, Gretna 2008 FC whilst runners up Hearts 98 meet Gala Fairydean Rovers, Ayr United Parkhouse and Lochgilp Rovers.

Newcomers Oriam United face AM Soccer, Gerihatricks and Forth Valley Stirling.

In addition, 28 teams will take part in a non-competitive festival where they will be given the chance to lay against MSPs and celebrities. Last year former Rangers and Celtic players Barry and Derek Ferguson, Alex Rae, Joe Miller and Frank McAvennie played for the BBC Sportsound team.
