Following a collision yesterday evening near Edinburgh Airport when a tram was derailed, services to and from the airport are only running as far as the Gyle. It appears that a courtesy bus from the airport to the Long Stay car park collided with the tram.

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Trams said: “The well-being of everyone involved in last night’s road traffic accident continues to be our number one priority.

“Our tram is currently being recovered which will allow the maintenance teams to make an assessment of the condition of tram tracks. We will continue to operate part route until this has been completed.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while we work to resume full services.”

  • Services will run between from every seven minutes between York Place and Gyle Centre.
  • A ticket accetance agreement in place with Lothian Buses to help customers complete their journeys.
  • Additional staff have been deployed to key tram stop to help customers make alternative travel arrangements.
