Malleny Angling Association (MAA) host a special day so people can learn about fishing on Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs.

Hooked on Harlaw is on Sunday, July 1 (from 10.30am) at Harlaw House and Garden next to the two reservoirs.

The event is free and the MAA, who administrate fishing on the two reservoirs above Balerno, have organised a fun-filled programme.

You can learn the delicate art of casting a fly line, see a fishing tackle display, watch a fly tying demonstration and learn how to clean and fillet trout making them ready to cook.

A trout BBQ will also be held where attendees can taste freshly-caught trout free.

Vanilla Pod catering, who are regulars at Harlaw Reservoir, will be on-site providing hot drinks, ice cream, baking and food.

And Natural Heritage officers will be on-hand to talk about activities and routes in the Pentland Hills Regional Park.

More information is available from Natural Heritage on 0131 529 2401 or email pentlandhills@edinburgh.gov.uk or Malleny Angling Association on 07944 550261 or email alan.mallenyangling@gmail.com
