Police investigating the housebreaking at Dechmont Post Office are appealing for witnesses following two further break-ins to properties in West Lothian.

At around 1am on Wednesday 30th May a business unit in the Houstoun Industrial Estate was broken into.

A white Vauxhall Movano van was seen to approach near the site around the time of the break-in and the occupants of this vehicle are being sought by police.

A number of cosmetic items were taken from inside as a result.

The van was later found burnt out on the B8046 at Faucheldean.

Around 1.30am on Friday 1st June, a second break-in was reported at the Harburn Golf Course in West Calder.

During this time entry was forced to the clubhouse by four men who exited a BMW car and stole a safe from within.

The safe was later recovered intact within a nearby field.

Both of these incidents are being linked to the break-in and attempted theft from the Post Office in Dechmont during the early hours of Thursday 31st May.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said: “Our inquiries at this time lead us to believe that all three break-ins have been carried out by the same people and we would urge anyone with information that can help us identify those responsible to contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone who believes they have seen the occupants of BMW car, or Vauxhall Movano van, acting suspiciously at any of the affected locations, then please also get in touch.”

Those with information relating to any of these incidents can contact Livingston CID via 101 and quote incident numbers 180 of the 30th May (Houston Industrial Estate); 248 of the 31st May (Dechmont Post Office)  or 260 of the 1st June (Harburn Golf Course). Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
