Four Edinburgh Monarchs captains will skipper teams in the Platinum Jubilee Fours meeting at Edinburgh Monarchs on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm) to celebrates the 70-year history of the club.

Current captain Ricky Wells and former skippers, Sam Masters, Rory Schlein and Craig Cook with lead their teams.

John Campbell, Monarchs’ promoter, said: “I was proud of myself in overturning a planning decision on appeal and the Monarchs arrived at their short-term, temporary home of Armadale in 1997.

“Now, 21-years later we are still here, the longest running home to the Monarchs.

“We have, indeed, become mighty here winning our first ever league title in 2003 and winning it four more times since.

“It’s been a joyous ride for me, 53 years as a supporter and 34 years as a promoter.

“I’m grateful to all who have helped along the way in whatever manner, particularly to those involved in our company for the last 32 years, and to Alex Harkess, my long-time, co-promoter.”
