Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Dunbar between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday 14 July at a car park in the Barns Ness area.

The 51-year-old victim was approached by two men outside his van, who assaulted him before entering the vehicle and stealing a number of personal items.

The victim was left with serious facial injuries that required hospital treatment.

The suspects are both described as white men, aged in their early 30s. The first suspect was of medium build, around 6ft tall, with short mousey brown hair and was wearing a blue short sleeved polo shirt and light-coloured trainers. He spoke with an English accent.

The second suspect is described as being of slim build, between 5ft 5ins – 6ft tall and was wearing black-coloured trousers.

The suspects arrived and left the area in a white Iveco daily van.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Morrison from Dalkeith CID said: “As a result of this incident the man has been left with serious injuries and we are eager to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who may have been in the car park at Barns Ness on Saturday night, and who witnessed the suspects immediately before, or after the assault, to come forward.

“Equally anyone who may have seen the vehicle or the suspects in the Dunbar area, or has any information to assist our investigations, is asked to come forward as soon as possible.”
