Ladbrokes Premiership leaders Hearts have added to their already considerable squad by signing English midfield player Sean Clare on a three-year contract.

Clare’s contract with English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday ended at the end of last season meaning the 21-year-old was a free agent. There was reputed interest from clubs in the English Premier League and Championship, but the attacking midfielder has opted to join Hearts and assist their challenge for silverware.

Hearts latest recruit – after what has been a busy summer  – told the official club website:

“I’m buzzing to be here. I’m really happy to get it done and I’m looking forward to what’s to come. There has been interest from England in the Premier League and the Championship.

“I really took my time on the decision, but even before I came up I knew that Hearts was a massive club and you’ve got really passionate fans and a great fanbase, people who you want to play for so that really attracted me to come up.

“When I did come up and saw the manager and Austin they showed me around the facilities, the stadium, and the training ground which is unbelievable.

“They showed me around the more historic parts of the ground, like the memorial garden, and it just really grabbed me.

“There are great facilities to develop and management that really want to push young players and make them better.”
