A primary two pupil has been injured after being hit by a branch from a tree in Trinity Primary School playground around 1pm this afternoon.

The child is currently being treated in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

The area has been cordoned off to allow for an investigation.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 1.18pm on Wednesday to attend an incident on Newhaven Road in Edinburgh.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one child patient to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.”
