Police have confirmed that a woman has died following a road collision in the South East of the city.

The 92-year-old was a pedestrian when she was involved in a collision with a Mercedes GL car at around 8am on Tuesday 16th October in Southhouse Avenue.

She sustained a number of serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where, sadly, she later passed away.

Inquiries into this incident are continuing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Constable Declan Fitzpatrick from the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit said: “Our sincerest sympathies are with the woman’s family and friends at this time and our investigation to establish the full circumstances of the collision are ongoing.

“I would again appeal for members of the public with information, or motorists with relevant dash-cam footage to contact police immediately.”
