Lothiancountry to extend their West Lothian service

Lothiancountry is expanding their network in West Lothian from the start of December with 26 new jobs created in the process.

An overwhelming response from the local community and new customers has prompted the business to do this before the end of the year. The new services include a night bus to take people home after a night out in town.

Service X18 will run from 2 December 2018 from Armadale to Edinburgh operating via Bathville Cross, Armadale Cross, Armadale East, Bathgate Town Centre, Wester Inch Village, Boghall, Dechmont, Uphall, Broxburn, Ratho Station, Maybury, Corstorphine and Haymarket.  The service will run up to every 30 minutes during the day and hourly in the late evenings, 7 days a week.

The N28 night bus service will be introduced from 1 December, operating hourly on Saturday & Sunday mornings at 0025, 0125, 0225 and 0325 with departures from Leith Street (Omni Centre). The service will continue through to Princes St, The Exchange, Fountainpark, Sighthill, Wilkieston, East Calder (Langton Rd), Mid Calder (Ochiltree), Dedridge East, Livingston Bus Terminal,  Craigshill, Ladywell, Deans North, Deans South.    Buses back to the City will operate directly from Deans South via Carmondean, Eliburn, Alderstone Road and Livingston Bus Terminal before returning to the outward route back to Leith Street.   Fares will be set at £3.00 within the countryWEST zone, £5 to the CityWEST zone and  £6 throughout lothianWEST area.

This third stage of the operation’s West Lothian expansion will introduce Lothiancountry services to a new part of Armadale and in response to customer feedback, it will provide direct links to Edinburgh City Centre for those living in Bathgate, Uphall and Broxburn.

Additional vehicles in Lothiancountry’s distinctive green and cream livery fitted with USB charging points and Wi-Fi will be used on these services.

The Company says it proves its commitment to its West Lothian operations and hopes to further boost the local economy with the creation of a further 26 jobs.

Nigel Serafini, Commercial Director for the Lothian group said:  “We are delighted to be able to introduce these additional services including the expansion of our Nightbus network within our Lothiancountry operations.   Levels of customer feedback and interaction have been huge, allowing us to continue the development of our service and ticketing offering.    We listened to customer feedback and recently introduced our 5 day M ticket bundles which are valid for up to 180 days giving customers great value and flexibility”.

Lothiancountry began operating in West Lothian in August and uses a zonal fare structure. Along with single fares the company offers three Dayticket options for customers along with discounted M tickets.
