Police are appealing for information following an attempted murder in the Craigshill area of Livingston which took place in a wooded area near Holly Grove shortly after 4pm yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called following a report of an altercation involving a number of men. On arrival, a 27-year-old man was found to have sustained serious injuries to his head, neck and hand.

The Scottish Ambulance Service were called and the man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Enquiries so far have established that this may be linked to an earlier disturbance involving three men in the Kingfisher Brae area of Ladywell, which took place around 11.45am.

Detective Sergeant Andrew McGhee of Livingston CID said: “We believe that this was a targeted attack and I want to reassure the public that a thorough investigation is currently underway.

“As part of our enquiries into this incident, which we’re treating as attempted murder, we’re urging anyone who may have information of relevance to come forward.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2399 of 15th October, or report this anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
