Murrayfield Racers failed to break their duck in the National Ice Hockey League, North Cup, when they were plundered 11-1 in Edinburgh by Hull Pirates.

The home side were 6-0 down after the first 20 minutes and 10-0 behind after the second period.

Flagging Fife Flyers skidded to their sixth straight Elite League defeat.

The former league pace-setters led 2-0 after 29 minutes through Marcus Basara and Carlo Finucci but then the roof fell in and Devils hit seven goals without reply.

Ex-Cardiff player Paul Crowder netted a consolation third late on for the home side in the crushing 8-3 home reverse.

Mike Sullivan claimed two goals and an assist as lowly Dundee Stars shocked mid-table Coventry Blaze on Tayside.

Francois Bouchard and Charles Corcoran claimed the other two strikes as Stars battled back from 2-0 down to earn their third straight Elite League victory.
