The man responsible for the death of Alan Glancy in Edinburgh in February 2018 has been sentenced.
Paul Ness, 46, was sentenced to 11 years in prison at the High Court in Glasgow, after pleading guilty to culpable homicide on 12 December 2018.
Alan, aged 47, was assaulted in his home in the Port Hamilton area of the capital between 10 January 2018 and 1 February 2018.
His body was found in the property on 1 February 2018. Inquiries had established that Ness had inflicted a fatal stab wound to Alan’s leg.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pinkney of the Major Investigation Team said: “We welcome the sentencing today of Paul Ness who admitted his actions caused the death of Alan Glancy.
“This was a significant enquiry conducted by the Major Investigation Team in conjunction with local officers in Edinburgh. I would like to thank colleagues, partners and the public who supported us throughout our inquiries and were instrumental in ensuring Ness could be brought to justice.
“Ness has led a lifestyle of offending and today’s sentence reflects that.
“Our thoughts continue to be with Alan’s friends and family, and we hope the sentence today will allow them to begin to move forward with their lives.”
