Former Edinburgh Monarchs star Max Fricke is celebrating after winning the Australian Championship.

Rohan Tungate won the final round on his home circuit at Kurri Kurri circuit with a maximum but Fricke was second and that was enough to take the title.

Fricke said: “It’s awesome. The win on the night would have been a little bit sweeter but Rohan is super-quick around here. So to get second to him is no bad thing.”

The former Armadale favourite won the title with 83 points with Rohan Tungate on 77.

Another former Monarchs racer, Sam Masters, was fourth with 53 points with ex-Glasgow Tigers rider Nick Morris seventh equal on 45 points.

Monarchs rider Justin Sedgmen scored 23 points and was 12th with Josh Pickering (pictured above) 17th with one point.
