Division One: Grange 6, Watsonians 0; Kelbune 1, Grove Menzieshill 2; Aberdeen Standard 2, Uddingston 6; Edinburgh University 3, Clydesdale 2.

Teenager Jacob Tweedie and skipper Cameron Fraser both claimed doubles as champions Grange extended their unbeaten run in Division One to 14 games.

They brushed city rivals Watsonians aside 6-0 after being 3-0 ahead at the break at Fettes College.

And had it not been for Watsonians’ goalkeeper Luke Campbell the scoreline could have been higher.

Watsonians only really tested Grange’s goalkeeper Doug Gourlay once when Fraser Heigh burst through on his own but shot straight at the stopper.

Grange coach David Knipe now has four games remaining to claim a second successive title.

But he stressed that Grange were only taking one game at a time and added: “We started really well, playing simple hockey, but Watsonians are always organised and improved in the second-half.”

Mike Leonard, Watsonians’ coach, said: “Grange are top of the league and we are eighth and it showed.”

Scottish international Duncan Riddell opened the scoring after ten minutes after sustained pressure and Frank Ryan made it 2-0 five minutes later.

It was 3-0 after 25 minutes when Fraser netted and under-18 international Tweedie netted the fourth two minutes after the re-start.

The fifth arrived after 60 minutes via an audacious chip from Tweedie who took his time and picked his spot before delivering and Fraser netted the sixth with five minutes left.

And Edinburgh University maintained their purple patch since the re-start after the winter break with a narrow 3-2 win over Clydesdale at Peffermil.
