Ricky Wells has revved-up for the new speedway season by riding in Manchester and in Poland.

The New Zealand-born American international returns to Edinburgh Monarchs for a third season.

And he revealed that he took a break from speedway during the winter.

That’s not normal for Wells but he said: “The break has rejuvenated me.

“I’ve probably prepared better than ever. I hadn’t been back on a bike till testing last week at Belle Vue and then three days in Poland.

“I’ve had a lot of riding in a short space of time and I feel very good.”

Monarchs open their home season against Wolverhampton Wolves in a challenge match on Friday, April 12 (7.30pm).

Meanwhile, Glasgow Tigers We will be involved in a feature length documentary which will be filmed over the course of this season.

It is called In the Red and will feature the story of speedway as a whole but will focus on Tigers and their 2019 campaign.

Tigers’ owners, Allied Vehicles, are to renew their Principal Partners link with the Great Britain Speedway Team.
