Police have closed part of Annandale Street following the discovery of a suspicious package earlier today.

Officers were called to the scene after the alarm was raised around 11.50am this morning.

A cordon has been established whilst officers remain at the scene. Members of the public have been advised to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance following the discovery of a suspicious item in the Annandale Street area.

“The incident was reported to police around 11.50am on Friday, March 1. “Officers are currently investigating the circumstances at the scene and the public are advised to avoid the area where possible.”
