Championship Shield: Glasgow Tigers 53, Edinburgh Monarchs 37

Glasgow Tigers claimed 13 wins out of 15 races to beat arch rivals Edinburgh Moanrchs 53-37 in the Championship Shield in the West of Scotland.

And Monarchs’ team manager Alex Harkess declared: “You can’t win matches if you don’t win heats and we didn’t have any till the last third of the match. That’s not good enough. It’s disappointing all round.”

And Glasgow could have won by more if Danish rider Rasmus Jensen not suffered a puncture in the last race.

Now Monarchs need maximum points from all their remaining matches in the competition if they are to have any chance of topping the group.

Glasgow: Cook 15, Sarjeant 5, Jensen 11, Starke 5, Vissing 9, Chessell 1, Bickley 7
Edinburgh: Wells 12, Sedgmen 3, Pickering 9, Andersson 5, Heeps 5, Lawson 2, Ruddick 1
