Hibs’ Head Coach Grant Scott (above right) is looking forward to the SWPL Cup final which takes place at Airdrie’s Pennycars Stadium on Friday night.

Hibs completed a ‘treble double’ in November 2018 after winning the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup at Firhill and since that win the club have dominated in domestic cup competitions.

The team are now looking to bring the SWPL Cup back to the capital for a fourth successive year.

Speaking to Scottish Women’s Football, he said: “It is a game that I am really looking forward to. We’ve got a good record in cup finals recently. This is another great occasion for us.

“The final is between the two best teams over recent seasons, there are certainly some challengers in about it this season, but with it being against two familiar opponents it makes it a great occasion, especially for the spectators who will see a closely contested match.

“It will be a proper final on Friday.

“I have said previously that the achievement of winning the past six cup competitions shouldn’t be undervalued and externally people should acknowledge the squad of players that have achieved that.

“Whatever happens on Friday, we have a nice landmark of having won six domestic cup trophies in a row, but to win a fourth SWPL Cup in a row would be fantastic and another incredible achievement.

“At the end of the day, a lot of work goes into what we do and these cup finals are rewards for the players for all the work they do during the year.

“It’s a special day, a special occasion, and you hopefully get a trophy and can celebrate afterwards.”

The match between Hibernian and Glasgow City takes place at the Pennycars Stadium, Airdrie, on Friday 10 May with a 7:35pm kick-off
