A man has been convicted of sexual offences following incidents in the Little France area of Edinburgh earlier this year.

At the High Court in Glasgow, David Milligan pled guilty to the sexual assault of a woman and the attempted rape of a second woman.

The 21-year-old approached the first woman on Thursday 21st February on Little France Crescent and assaulted her.

The following day, he followed a second woman who was walking on Little France Park, and pushed her to the ground before attacking her.

Detectives from Police Scotland’s Public Protection Unit launched an investigation which resulted in Milligan being arrested and subsequently charged on Monday 25th February 2019.

Detective Inspector Jonny Wright of Edinburgh’s Public Protection Unit said: “These were extremely distressing ordeals for the victims who have shown great courage throughout the investigation.

“Our investigation involved local and specialist officers and I would like to thank them, along with our partners, for their diligence and assistance throughout this case.

“Police Scotland is committed to investigating all reports of sexual crimes with the utmost seriousness and we will always work tirelessly to ensure perpetrators of such crimes are brought before the courts.”

Milligan is due to be sentenced on 9th August.
