Barry McEwan hooked the winning fish, a 2lb 12oz cod, in the fourth round of the Bass Rock Sea Angling Summer League held at Dunbar Harbour.

Paul Robertson from North Berwick was second with a cod of 1lb and Dunbar-based Alan Brown with third with a fish which tipped the scales at 15oz.

Barry’s specimen arrived less than 30 minutes from curtain down at 10pm, but he had dropped another fish only minutes earlier.

He was rewarded as Barry and his brother Craig had to clamber over rocks and wade through deep pools to get to the spot they wanted.

Barry, from Port Seaton, confirmed that it had been hard going and that fish only started to come on when cloud cover arrived inside the last hour of the event. Peeler crab did the trick for him.
