Former Hibs’ winger Alex Harris has joined Edinburgh City from York City.

The Edinburgh-born player is well-known to manager James McDonaugh from his days in the Hibs’ Development team alongside Danny Handling.

The pair combined to fire Hibernian to the Scottish Cup Final in 2013, with Harris scoring one and making another as the Easter Road men overcame a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3 over Falkirk.

Harris looked destined for the top however a terrible injury in the opening game of the following season saw him miss much of the campaign and he subsequently struggled to regain his form.

Loan spells with Dundee and Queen of the South followed before he joined Falkirk then York City.

McDonaugh said: “Alex will be an exciting player for us next season. He is a player who I have enormous belief in and I am excited about what he will bring to an already talented group.”
