Edinburgh Monarchs have admitted that the medical reports on three injured riders are “still not great”.

Luke Ruddick has not recovered from concussion and will miss back-to-back matches against Redcar Bears in the SGB Championship.

Connor Coles will deputise for Friday’s home clash (tapes-up 7.30pm). No replacement has been confirmed for Saturday’s return on Teesside.

Australian Justin Sedgmen has had the plaster removed from his left hand but his ring finger has not been healing and doctors are concerned about a possible injury to a scaphoid.

John Campbell, Monarchs’ co-promoter, confirmed that Sedgmen is seeking further advice but could need operation.

His countryman, Josh Pickering, has a trapped nerve but Campbell added: “It has taken all the strength from his arm but it was showing signs of recovery.” He may race on Friday.
