Paul Weller kicked off the Castle Concerts on a Thursday night which promised to be a rainy one but the weather turned out to be kind to the Modfather.

He is a legend. He really doesn’t need to do much more than turn up to wow the fans, but he told The Edinburgh Reporter on arrival at Edinburgh Airport that he was really geared up for the concert – ‘as always’.

This is the final concert in a month-long run which has taken him to Cardiff, Dublin, Camden and a variety of other dates in England.

His fourteenth solo album and 26th studio album entered the charts at number 2 last November. His fans are loyal and he looked great on that stage tonight.

Mark Mackie, director of Castle Concerts said ahead of the concert: “Paul is without doubt one of the most iconic British singers of his generation and we are delighted to welcome the original Modfather back to Edinburgh Castle this summer.”

Nick Finnigan, Executive Manager at Edinburgh Castle said earlier : “Paul Weller joins a stellar line-up of musical icons performing at Edinburgh Castle. We look forward to hearing Paul’s well-known hits and new material at what promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment.”

And can we just say that we loved this from Scotrail earlier……
