Some of the people in the audience had come straight from the 2-0 win over Alloa at Easter Road and were still wearing the scarves to prove it.

Others had travelled from Glasgow and much further afield.

None of the diehard fans were left wanting. When, halfway through the set, the duo launched into Sunshine on Leith the esplanade erupted. What an anthem it is, and how the audience loved it.

This is a band who know their audience and their audience were very much in tune with them.

Just ahead of the band coming on the stage (and for the first three numbers) I was at the front – and there were smiles galore with people who were more than ready to have a great evening.

Every one of them stood for the duration of the concert – and had been standing there since 7.00pm. They were geared up for a really great time. (and yes lady in the front row I loved your Saltire sunglasses!)

Craig and Charlie and their band gave them that tonight.

I was a little sad that the encore was not one of their classic numbers but for musicianship (hats off to Erica Nockalls for the solo violin playing!) the harmonies and sheer professionalism they have to be applauded.

And they are back tomorrow evening. There may still be a ticket or two on sale.

Another great evening in the sunshine on the Castle Esplanade courtesy of Regular Music.
