Following the announcement by Unite the union that Lothian’s drivers and engineers have voted to strike from next Friday morning, the management of the company have put out another statement on Twitter to set out their position.

They say in this statement that they are ‘still hopeful of a resolution at this stage’. You can read it in full below.

Richard Hall, Lothian’s Managing Director said : “We are deeply disappointed and confused that the deal agreed between Lothian and Unite has been voted down by their members after their full recommendation to accept. This is the second time a deal has been agreed between the company and the union only to be declined by the members. This is in spite of the fact it would have provided a significant pay rise as well as a series of additional initiatives to further enhance our engagement with staff.

“Yesterday we were again reassured by Union officials that they were confident that the deal would be accepted on the basis of their recommendation. We now need to understand from them why this was not the case and are keen to engage further as to how we can move forward. We remain committed to taking whatever steps we can to avoid a hugely damaging strike next week.”
