Hearts have received a major boost on the eve of the new Premiership campaign with the news that striker Steven Naismith has signed a four-year contract which sees him commit to the Tynecastle club until 2023.

The Scotland striker has spent two loan periods in Gorgie from English side Norwich City who paid Everton £8.5m for his services in 2016.

Naismith is well down the road to making a full recovery from the injury which kept him out for the latter part of last season and may even make the Hearts squad for the visit to Pittodrie on Sunday for the opening league game of the season.
