Ben Barker stands-in for Edinburgh Monarchs on Sunday (5.30pm) as the Scots bid to claim valuable SGB Championship road points at Sheffield Tigers to stay in with a chance of making the end-of-season, play-offs.

The man of many clubs, replaces Aussie racer Cameron Heeps who was hurt guesting in the SGB Premiership for Ipswich Witches last week.

Alex Harkess, Monarchs’ team manager, is desperate for points after Friday’s postponed match against Tigers.

Monarchs are ninth in the 11-strong table with 13 points from 11 outings while Sheffield are fifth with 20 points from 12 meetings.

The Yorkshire combine are six points adrift of fourth-placed Redcar Bears who have complete 13 meetings with only the top four qualifying for the end-of-season play-offs.

Justin Sedgmen, cut by Monarchs earlier this season after a run of poor form, could have a point to prove and Kyle Howarth is another danger man.

Sheffield’s rising star Drew Kemp is riding in the European Under-19 Championship at Gustrow on Friday so rider replacement will be used.

Meanwhile, former Edinburgh sipper Eric Riss top scored with 14 points as Redcar consolidated fourth position with a 53-37 win over Newcastle Diamonds on Friday.

Riss collected his haul from five rides and newly-crowned British Champion Charles Wright 12 points from his four outings.
