SGB Championship: Edinburgh Monarchs 58, Sheffield Tigers 32; Redcar Bears 44, Glasgow Tigers 46

Edinburgh Monarchs romped to a 58-32 win to end Sheffield Tigers hopes for a place in the end-of-season play-offs.

Sam Masters and skipper Ricky Wells both scored 14 points to steer the home side home with Broc Nicol top scoring for the visitors with 12 points.

Danny King was next best with 11 points but former Monarchs rider Justin Sedgmen disappointed, scoring only one point.

Monarchs were only 13-11 ahead after four races but 5-1 heat wins in the sixth, ninth and tenth heats moved them 38-22 ahead. Back-to-back 5-1 wins in heats 12 and 13 ended the contest.

Elsewhere, Craig Cook and in-form Rasmus Jensen kept their cool to power Glasgow Tigers to a narrow 46-44 victory at red-hot Redcar Bears.

Cook was second and Jensen third behind home star Charles Wright to draw the final heat 3-3 and earn the victory in a tense SGB Championship clash on Teesside.

Glasgow led from Heat Four and looked to be close to victory with a 36-42 advantage going into the second-last heat, but Redcar hit back with a 5-1 to put the result in the balance.

Wright top scored with 15 points from six races with Michael Palm Toft next best on eight points.

Cook and Jensen both collected 12 points but Tigers were hampered by the withdrawal of Mikkel B Andersen after two races.
