Cami Brown insists his riders are up for the fight to become Championship winners. Glasgow Tigers have hit the skids with four straight defeats including one at home last week. That followed a run of five wins, two of them on the road.

But Brown (pictured), Glasgow’s team manager, said his side are not ready to let top spot in the league slip away from them easily.

And he believes that they have enough opportunity to make up the 14-point gap as they have five matches in hand.

Brown’s men have a double-header date with Berwick Bandits this weekend with the first-leg at Ashfield on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm).

He said: “I wouldn’t be this club’s manager if I thought we gave up easily. We are Glasgow and we race every meeting with the intention, and the expectation, that we will challenge for points.

“We had a meeting in the dressing room after Saturday’s defeat to Scunthorpe and we turned that negative into a positive. The overwhelming message was that we will never give in.

“The riders are up for the fight and, if we can secure our place in the play-offs, we will be ready to go toe-to-toe with whoever we face.

“We have had some good results against our potential opponents and, while we will show everyone the respect they deserve, we fear nobody.

“There are no guarantees in speedway, but what I intend to show tomorrow against Berwick is that we are the force to be reckoned with that we have been for most of this season.

“We want to do that on and off the track. Our message to the fans would be: let’s show the rest of the league that Glasgow are back, and back us all the way to the top four and the chance to bring some silverware to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.”
