On Saturday 5 October 2019, photographers around the world will be taking part in Photo Walks.

The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk, dubbed the world’s largest global and social photography event, has grown immensely in size and popularity since the inaugural walk in 2007. Last year, more than 24,000 photographers of all walks of life and skill level converged to explore their corners of the world through photography and social community.

The concept of a Photo Walk is simple. Photo Walks are created by Walk Leaders in cities all over the world. Walkers meet up at a pre-designated location to spend a few hours socialising, capturing images, and sharing with like-minded people.

In addition to the event, photo walkers will be able to upload their favourite picture to the popular Photo Walk contest for a chance to win prizes like a DSLR, gift cards, apps, and camera bags.

The Edinburgh Worldwide Photo Walk event will start from Calton Hill at 10:00am on 5 October 2019. The route will cross the city, finishing in the Grassmarket around 1:00pm. It’s totally free to attend the Photo Walk but places are limited to 50 photographers who need to register here.

Every year, photo walkers are encouraged to help support the initiative “Walk with a Purpose” by donating to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya!

The leader of the Edinburgh event is professional photographer, Rich Dyson. Rich is the owner of the popular Edinburgh Photography Workshop and he will be on hand to help everyone to get the most from this free event.
