SUCCESS FOR CASA MIA IN SCOTTISH ITALIAN AWARDS

Casa Mia Italian Restaurant in Nethertown Broad Street, Dunfermline is celebrating double success in the recent Scottish Italian Awards.

The family run restaurant has picked up a Highly Recommended Award in Scotland’s Best Pizzeria category, and another Highly Recommended for Best Pizza in the whole of the UK. It’s already been named Best Family Run Italian Restaurant in Fife 2019, and nominated in the Top Ten Italian Restaurants across UK by Bookatable.

Launched in 2013, The Scottish Italian Awards invite entries from all Italian businesses in Scotland, from Pizzerias to gelato parlours, from artisan delis to fish and chip shops. Votes are cast online by the public to assemble a top five in each category, before a panel of Italian food & drink experts choose the winners.

Held at the Doubletree Hotel in Glasgow, the awards attracted nearly one thousand different businesses taking part, with judges including representatives from Accademia Pizzaioli, and the prestigious ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine.

Prior to the awards night, Pizzerias and Restaurants vying for the Best Pizza titles, including Fabio Teti from Casa Mia, had to take part in live pizza making demonstrations in front of the Judges.

Fabio, who runs Casa Mia with his parents, Silvana and Giuseppe said : “We are delighted with our success at these awards. It’s great news for our family, a real celebration of our food and service.

“Having taken over this restaurant last year and renamed it Casa Mia, meaning “our home”, we are delighted with how things have gone. We would like to thank our loyal customers who voted for us in these awards. We have a superb team behind us in our waiting and kitchen staff.  On a personal note, I really enjoyed competing in the pizza making, it was amazing to be judged by some of the top names in the industry.”
